Music has been an important part of my life ever since developing an interest in jazz while I was in high school. Before I got into mathematics, I attended Eastman School of Music for three years as a jazz saxophone performance major, before deciding to change paths and transfer to Rutgers University to major in Mathematics.
Although I don't play saxophone anymore, I picked up jazz piano as a hobby in my last year of graduate school and I've continued to play since then whenever I've had access to a piano. I found this quote by the late Chick Corea, one of my favorite pianists, to be inspiring:
"It is my hope that those who have an inkling to play, write, perform or otherwise, do so. If not for yourself then for the rest of us. It’s not only that the world needs more artists, it’s also just a lot of fun."
In that spirit, here are a few piano recordings I've made with my Kawai CA-79 digital piano.
Alternatively, if you grew up playing the original Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) or Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) like I did, you might be interested in checking out my sound cloud, 8bitnostalgia, where I post original compositions in the 8-bit and 16-bit styles.
